CNC Lathe Machinist

The focus of this job is on producing high quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines and procedures.  Job knowledge and competency is built through structured step by-step training and positive, supportive coaching from management and peers.  Consistent, error free work based on defined regulations and standards are key measures of job performance success. 
The pace for this position will be unassuming and often faster than meets the eye.  Each day is different from the next and will often require switching between tasks based on the priorities within the department.  Attention to detail is a major focus of the job.  As a time factor the work must be done on time, as well as correctly.  This is a position where established guidelines, structure, and established policies must be followed closely.  The successful candidate will be a valued member of our team who performs an important role within the Lathe department, reporting directly to the production manager.
E Responsibilities of the CNC Lathe Operator:

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes independently, following work instructions and setup sheets.

  • Produce precision parts that meet customer drawings and internal specs.

  • Read and interpret blueprints; inspect parts using gauges, plate checks, and proper tools.

  • Complete all documentation accurately, including job travelers and SPC charts.

  • Run multiple machines when feasible, maintaining high quality standards.

Requirements for the CNC Lathe Operator:
  • Proficient in CNC lathe operation with C and Y Axis; experience with jaws, 16C/5C collets, and ideally Okuma or FANUC controls.

  • Skilled in using inspection tools and interpreting GD&T.

  • Familiar with manufacturing procedures, machining best practices, and safety standards.

  • Comfortable with blueprint reading and computer-based quality documentation.

  • Reliable, self-directed, and able to perform under minimal supervision.

  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and commitment to quality.
